Bedford Union Armory Identity
Project: Find an issue in your assigned neighborhood and design something In my perspective on what an effective community space would be for the Crown Heights community, I see potential for the context of how space interacts with a community as a factor that I could build on. I have found that branding is a great opportunity to help a space introduce itself, integrate itself within the community, alter public space and perceptions, and create enhanced communication, relationships, and connection between people and space. Language is a barrier that still divides and separates people in Crown Heights. However, I see a visual language of Iconography, imagery, and color as universal and inclusive to all. An informed community that knows about the space and actually uses the space will have more of a personal connection and responsibility for the space and allow it to expand and be integrated into a diverse community. The visual language created will emphasize the mission and goal of providing space for community growth and interaction while still acknowledging the diversity and history of the neighborhood.
